JRUUC encourages the development of supportive and meaningful friendships among its members. We help to facilitate this with our fellowship hours (after each worship service), occasional potlucks and fun outings. In addition, we have several types of groups meeting regularly that are available for members to join.
Chalice Circles
Chalice Circles (also called Covenant Group Ministry or Small Group Ministry) are small groups of about nine people who meet regularly, in members' homes or at Reeb, to foster the beloved community and nurture their spiritual lives. Because Chalice Circles are meant to develop as safe communities in which to nurture our spiritual lives, each group forms a covenant -- a set of agreements about how they will be together. For example, a group might agree to listen to each other without interrupting. Each group has at least one trained facilitators who meet periodically with a minister for ongoing training and support. We currently have three Chalice Circles and would like to form a couple more as the need arises. Contact Rev. Darrel for more information at
Book Club
The JRUUC Book Club meets the third Saturday each month from noon to 1:30 pm to discuss a mutually-agreed-upon book. Some recent examples are Blood Done Sign My Name by Timothy Tyson and Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oates. Contact Martha Crawford for more information:
Music
There are several opportunities to get involved with music at Reeb, from Adult Choir, to the newly formed Children's Choir, or the more informal "Jams" Reeb sessions.
The Adult Choir rehearses 7:00-8:30 pm Thursdays from mid-August through May, and sings at many of the Sunday services. New members of all ability levels are welcome.
Children's Choir begins Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6pm. Rehearsals will run 45-50 minutes in the Sanctuary.
"Jams" Reeb meets every other Monday at 7pm in the Sanctuary. Bring your favorite instrument (or just your voice!) and come make some music.
For more information, check out the Music page, or contact Choir Director Bryan Verstegen at
